Good morning, I could do with giving my 2009 C4GP 1.6HDi battery a bit of a top up charge. I was just wondering if it’s ok to charge it in situ, I can see the positive terminal is easy to get to but the negative not without removing covers etc. Can you use the jump start negative point on the slam panel as the negative for the battery charger?

I am now on my 3rd one. What I think happens is that the relay coils protection circuit is destroyed by the back emf from the coil and then the relay does not switch over which discharges the battery. The actual relay is fine or at least it was on the one I cut open. Diagnostics should throw up the fault code for a non working relay on it.
Therefore, the energy saving mode activates and deactivates automatically according to amount of electricity present in your battery. So when you remove the ignition from your Citroen C4 Picasso and try to switch on the radio you may have the message: energy saving mode activated, written on the dashboard, and after a few minutes it will turn off.
Can't help with Citroen but it was a common problem with the SAAB 9-5 I used to own. Alarm is designed to sound even if battery is disconnected and as others have said that battery can get tired and fail. Happened to me and I bought the new box (in a rush about to go away so no time to try other ways. Cost was about 250 back then.
